About The Diamond Project
A community-funded, community-governed jewelry platform where every follower gets a diamond, artisans design the jewelry, and the community pledges on what gets made.
What Is This?
The Diamond Project is exactly what it sounds like: for every follower we gain, we commit to setting a real diamond into a real piece of jewelry. The community funds the diamonds. Verified artisan jewelers submit original designs. The community pledges diamonds to the designs they love — and when a design is fully funded, it goes into production.
It started as a fun idea — what if we could turn a social following into something physical, something real? Not merch with a logo on it, but actual handcrafted jewelry with real diamonds. One per follower. Tracked publicly. Governed by the community. Verified transparently.
The Goal
The primary goal is simple: every follower gets a diamond set for them. Not shipped to them — set into a piece of art that the community collectively brought to life.
But there's a bigger goal behind that. We want to build a platform where skilled jewelers can focus on their craft without worrying about material costs. Where the community has a real say in what gets made. Where every dollar is tracked and every decision is transparent.
One diamond set per follower — tracked publicly
Fund artisan jewelers so they can create without material costs
Give the community real governance — pledge diamonds to designs you love
One transparent diamond fund — tracked publicly
Keep every dollar visible and verifiable
Give back through provably fair giveaways funded by the community
Our Principles
Radical Transparency
Every dollar is tracked. Revenue, costs, management fees — all public. Check the Transparency page anytime.
Artisan-First
Jewelers don't pay for materials. They contribute their skill and time, and we provide everything else. Their labor, their rate. We don't take a cut of their work.
Community Governance
Every purchase earns diamonds based on profit. Pledge them to designs you love. Once a design hits its funding threshold, it moves to production. Completed pieces are either listed for sale or given away through provably fair draws.
Provably Fair
Giveaways use cryptographic commitments and public randomness. No one can rig the outcome — you can verify every draw yourself.
How It Works for Jewelers
We believe talented jewelers shouldn't have to choose between making art and paying for materials. The Diamond Project removes that barrier.
Here's the deal: jewelers apply and get verified through community endorsement and admin review. Once verified, they submit original designs with their own labor rates. The community pledges diamonds to fund every diamond, every gram of metal, every material the design calls for. The jeweler pays nothing except their time. Their labor rate is their own — we don't negotiate it down.
Once a design hits its funding threshold, production begins. Completed pieces are either listed for sale or enter a giveawaywhere post-production pledges fund the artisan's labor and the piece is awarded through a provably fair draw.
Apply & Get Verified
Jewelers apply as artisans and get verified through the community endorsement system. Verified artisans can submit designs.
Submit a Design
Artisans submit original designs with their labor rate, material needs, and diamond count. The design is reviewed and goes live in the Studio once approved.
Community Pledges Diamonds
The community pledges diamonds (earned from profits on purchases) to designs they love. Once a design hits its funding threshold, it moves to production.
The Jeweler Creates
Once fully funded, the artisan brings the design to life at the rate they set. Every diamond, every gram of metal is tracked and logged.
Listed or Given Away
Completed pieces are either listed for sale in the Store, or enter a giveaway where the community can pledge toward the artisan's labor for a chance to win through a provably fair draw.
How We Fund Everything
There's no venture capital, no investors, no hidden sponsors. Everything comes from the community.
Direct Funding
Anyone can contribute directly to the diamond fund. Roughly 1 diamond per dollar after payment processing fees — pledge them toward designs you love.
Merch Sales
All profit from merch goes into the diamond fund. You earn diamonds based on the profit margin of each item.
Jewelry Sales
Jewelry sales cover material costs, artisan labor, and a management fee. Profit-based diamonds are earned from each purchase.
On the Management Fee
Yes — a management fee (currently 15% of gross profit) is taken on jewelry sales. Not on merch. Not on direct funding. It pays for the person (Critter) who designs, builds, and maintains the platform. Full breakdown on the Transparency page.
The Community
Everyone who follows or contributes is part of the project. Every purchase earns you diamonds based on profit — direct funding earns roughly 1 diamond per dollar, and store purchases earn diamonds on the profit margin. Pledge them to designs you love.
Follow us and a diamond gets committed for you. Make a purchase and you earn diamonds to influence what gets made next. Enter giveaways for a chance to win completed pieces. It's that simple.
Who’s Behind This
The Diamond Project is built and managed by Critter at Engel Fine Design. Critter handles the platform development, project management, jeweler partnerships, and community operations.
But the real heart of the project is the artisans who create the jewelry and the community that funds it. This isn't a brand — it's a collective effort to turn a fun idea into real, tangible art.
Get Involved
Whether you want to pledge on designs, fund a diamond, apply as an artisan, or just follow along — every bit of support turns into something real.
